Margarito Suffered Detached Retina In Loss To Pacquiao, Career Could Be Over

Last November 14, 2010, Antonio Margarito made an unsuccessful comeback inside the boxing ring (after a one-year suspension due to his involvement in an illegal handwrapping scandal) when he was defeated by pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao in their battle for the vacant WBC World Super Welterweight title.

He was not just defeated, he was battered for 12 rounds that after the bout, his face was swollen and bleeding due to the beating he took. He was diagnosed with a broken orbital socket in the post-fight medical examination.

Now, it has been found out that he also suffered a detached retina.

During the fight, Pacquiao looked at referee Laurence Cole several times requesting him to stop the fight but Cole ignored his pleas and let the massacre continue. Because of that, “The Tijuana Tornado’s” career could finally be over.
